Velocity Dance

Tonya Lockyer is the Executive/Artistic Director of Velocity, Seattle’s award-winning dance center. She is also Affiliated Faculty of Cornish College of the Arts. Lockyer came to Velocity after twenty years as a leading NW dance artist focused on the borderlands of performance, embodiment and social engagement. She toured internationally receiving awards and commissions for projects including inter-cultural collaborations, 24-hour improvisations, and large-scale site-specific performances.

Since taking the helm at Velocity, Lockyer has been recognized for leading the financial and artistic revitalization of the organization, and developing innovative programming that fosters engagement. Lockyer has served as a guest speaker, panelist and lecturer at several events including American Dance Festival, On the Boards, and the conferences of Dance/USA, CORD, Society of Dance History Scholars, and Dance Critics Association. Her writing is published locally and internationally in journals, online and in exhibition catalogues. Lockyer has an MFA from the University of Washington.

Ezra Dickinson is a multi disciplinary artist who began dancing at the age of four and went on to train at Pacific Northwest Ballet for twelve years on full scholarship. While attending PNB, Ezra also completed a seven year apprenticeship in ceramics. Ezra earned his BFA in Dance with an emphasis in Choreography from Cornish College of The Arts. Ezra regularly practices and is commissioned to create work in performance/choreography, ceramics, sculpture, visual art, photography, design, murals, street art, film, animation and textiles. Along with being co artistic director of The Offshore Project and Actually Really, Ezra is also a member of The New Mystics, The Maureen Whiting Company and HYPERNOVA.
