Melissa Bird-Vogel is working as the Digital Brand Manager for MCDM’s Participation in TEDx Seattle. Melissa obtained her bachelors degree from Duke University in 2002 with a major in Behavioral Psychology, an English minor, and a Film/Video Certificate. She attended California Institute of the Arts to pursue her theater and film passions. Since that time, Melissa has acted in theater, worked for T-Mobile, e-Surg, and Razorfish.

She is currently working on her Masters of Communication in Digital Media via University of Washington’s MCDM program. She also runs a mobile marketing and social media consulting service (blue.bird.strategies) to help businesses promote and manage their brands in the digital era.

Beth Koemans joined the MCDM to manage the logistics for TEDx Seattle. As part of her Outreach Operations responsibilities, Beth coordinates ticket sales, catering, facility management and sponsorships.

Scott Macklin – Bridging Community and Education (South Africa and Seattle)

Scott serves on the advisory board of the Head Start Center for Inclusion and on board of the South African NGO Saving our Schools and Community (SOSAC).

Scott – along with his wife, Angelica and two children, Case (11) and Nikko (6) – makes award-winning documentary films, raises chickens and brews up bio-fuel. Scott uses social media as a powerful tool for learning and building meaningful relationships that create opportunities to engage in acts of social justice. Katia Farage has over 10 years of experience in graphic design and visual communication and is currently a grad student at the University of Washington pursuing a Masters of Communication in Digital Media. She holds a BA in Graphic Design and Advertising from the Holy Spirit University, Lebanon. Throughout her career, Katia worked with clients in various industries both in the Middle East and the United States. Her interests and expertise include advertising, marketing, print, and digital production. In her spare time, Katia likes to work on Jewelry design and to play with her baby. A Communications Creative with a strong passion for Visual Arts, Filiz has over ten years of experience as an Account Executive for multinational corporations in Turkey and Europe. She hold a BFA in Cinematography; a Master’s Degree in Public Relations; and pursuing her second Masters in Digital Media at the University of Washington to leverage digital media in business, as well as to explore new ways of strategic content production and distribution.
