Greg Bear is the author of more than 30 books of science fiction and fantasy, including Mariposa, Quantico, City At The End Of Time, Eon, Blood Music, The Forge of God, and Darwin’s Radio.
He is married to Astrid Anderson Bear and is the father of Erik and Alexandra.
Bear addresses questions of contemportary culture in his work, although he is often categorized as a “hard science fiction” writer. His most recent work, Mariposa features a near-future America teetering under massive national debt. He incorporates characters from another speculative work set in the near-future, Quantico.
Bear has served on political and scientific action committees and has advised Microsoft Corporation, the U.S. Army, the CIA, Sandia National Laboratories, Callison Architecture, Inc., Homeland Security, and other groups and agencies.
